League`s right

2018-06-07
(EDITORIAL) Regarding the character of the Punjab Ministry, we have expressed the opinion that no violence to truth is done if we call it a Muslim League Ministry in view of the fact that the dominant party in the Punjab Assembly is the Muslim League Party and the Muslim Ministers are members of the Muslim League.

Our comment on the subject provoked the vernacular Press of Lahore to no small degree; and we were accused of wishful thinking flying from facts, not facing them.

So long as men think differently, they will act differently; and tolerance of views is a condition of progress; but it is unfortunate that some vernacular papers of Lahore are not content with quarreloverideas; they have chosen to use language which is hardly elegant. The attitude of several Muslim Urdu dailies is deplorable, for it is manifest from their editorial comments that they pay only lip-sympathy to the Muslim League. The fact that the Muslim Press consists largely of Urdu papers places the editors of these journals in a monopolistic position to influence the Muslim public opinion. They are doing incalculable injury to the Muslim cause by making light of their trust and seeking popularity through opportunist methods, insidious propaganda and artful distortion of facts....-Dawn Delhi
