Legislation conferring Dominion Status on two Indias will be rushed through both houses of Parliament within a week. ...The provisional programme is understood to be as follows: First Parliament is to be presente d with the necessary legislation not later than the first week of July. Second The legislation conferring Dominion Status on the two Indias to be rushed through both the House of Commons and Lords within a week. ...Third The legislation after approval by Parliament to be submitted immediately to the King for Royal Assent. Fourth The legislation to be placed on the Statute Book before the end of July.

...By an irony of circumstances, it looks as though the most fateful legislation in India`s modern history may pass through the British Parliament more unobtrusively than any previous act for the time factor rules out protracted debates such as those marking the previous steps towards Indian self-determination.
