LAHORE: A man allegedly shot his sister-in-law dead and injured her husband in a dispute over a petty issue in Factory Area police precincts here on Monday.

The incident occurred on Ghazi Road where the suspect, Waqas, was living along with his two married brothers.

A police official said Waqas had been serving in the Dolphin Squad and was dismissed from service in 2021 following departmental probes held him guilty after serious allegations were levelledagainst him.

He said the suspect`s wife was an employee at the Lahore General Hospital and late on Sunday, he exchanged harsh words with his brother Irfan and his wife Fauzia for using his (Waqas`) deep f reezer.

Following the brawl, he said, Waqas opened fire on his brother and his wife, leaving both of them injured critically.

The injured couple was shifted to hospital, where Fauzia succumbed to her injuries, the police official said, adding the suspect managed to escape.

The police later shif ted the body to the city morgue for an autopsy and lodged a case againstthe neeing suspect.
