Cousin turns out to be planner of boy`s kidnap for ransom

TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad`s Factory Area police recovered an orphaned boy who was kidnapped for Rs5 million ransom, revealing that the crime was planned by none other than his own cousin.

Iqbal Town division Superintendent of Police (SP) Hafiz Kamran told a press conference on Monday that the suspect, Zamurad Ali, knew that his widowed aunt Razia Bibi had an amount of Rs5 million at her house.

The SP said the suspect planned kidnap of 14-year-old Arham Ali, son of Razia Bibi, to get that amount as ransom.

Executing the plan, he said Zamurad Ali reached her aunt`s house in Firdous Colony, Jhang Road, with his brother Hassan (14), leaving his two accomplices outside the house.

As per his plan, he sent Arham and Hassan to market on the pretext of bringing something to eat, where his accomplices kidnapped the boys at gunpoint and took them to Chak Bhaiwala in Millat Town police limits.Later, the SP said, one of the kidnappers phoned Arham`s mother Razia and told her that her son and his cousin Hassan had been kidnapped by him, demanding Rs5 million as ransom for their release. He threatened to kill the boys if the ransom amount was not paid to him.

He said on being called by Razia Bibi, police reached her house and started investigations. When police of ficials traced the kidnappers`location, Zamurad, who remained present in her aunt`s house all the time with police of ficials, telephoned his accomplices, asking them to run away, leaving the kidnapped children in Chak Bhaiwala.

The SP said the police reached the village and recovered the children.

He said the police also detected through call data of the mobile phone number used to call Razia Bibi, and found Zamurad was involved in the crime. When police arrested Zamurad, he confessed to have planned the kidnapping for Rs5 million ransom.

L ater, police also arrested the two accomplices of Zamurad, identified as Abdullah Umair of Gujrat and Usman Munir of Chak ChotaNawabanwala, Faisalabad.

ELECTROCUTED: In two separate incidents in Faisalabad on Monday, a man died and another was injured critically.

As per Rescue 1122, Shahbaz Maseeh was working on roof of an under-construction house at Chak 225 RB, Malkhanwala, when he accidentally touched a live electric wires passing over the roof.

As a result, he suffered electric shock and died instantly.

In another incident in Muzaffar Colony, one Zahid Ali (32) was working on the roof of an under-construction house, when an iron rod he was holding touched a electric wire. He suffered an electric shock and became unconscious.

He was shifted by Rescue 1122 staff to the district headquarters hospital.

DROWNS: A teenage boy drowned on Monday in Jhang branch canal, Faisalabad, near Dingro bridge located on Sargodha Road.

Rescue 1122 reported that Faiz Nawaz (13) of Chiniot was cooling of f in the canal when he slipped into deep water and drowned.

His body was fished out by Rescue 1122 divers.
