Knowledge corridor

2015-07-07
GLOBALISATION has established the supremacy of education over all spheres of life. Countries that have high literacy have higher living standards and a better quality of life.

In Pakistan, the persisting negative approach is a hurdle in the way of literacy.

These prejudices against education, especially the education of females, are, however, facing stiff resistance and opposition.

We must admit that the time for slogans such as `education for all` and `each one teach one` are the talk of the past. Today education has attained the height of knowledge and skill where one has to be well-versed both in theoretical and in practical knowledge, particularly information technology.

Ef forts should be made for expanded cooperation with developed countries in education, science, and technology, and the focus should be on improving access, relevance and quality of education.

Besides the ongoing changes in the curriculum, examination system, teachers` quality, effective governance, etc., there is a need for setting up a knowledge corridor with all advanced countries.
