PUNJAB Food Authority officials are continuing theirraids to ensure that people buy and consume hygienic, healthy and adulteration-free food.
They are conducting raids on outlets of manufacturers and suppliers of food items such as the bakery stuff, fruits packed and fresh milk, juices, sweetmeat, eggs, chips and what not, destroying huge quantities of items found unhealthy and adulterated in any manner and also imposing heavy fines on the guilty.
They are doing a fine job, but in doing so, food authority officials have made the list of eatable items very limited. Every day, people read in newspapers such and such food items are adulterated and not fit for human consumption. The people are horrified on reading what their food items generally contain.
This is to request the PFA officials to tell the public at large what they should eat and what they should avoid, as the list of adulterated food items is already pretty long and getting lengthier with every passing day.
The law governing the PFA should be revisited on a priority basis and the amount of fine as well the jail term should be enhanced to make the law effective and stringent.
