Judicial inquiry launched into Dargai incident

T I M E R G A R A : Authorities have launched judicial inquiry into the Dargai incident wherein a youth was killed in firing on power protesters on May 29, according to sources.

They said that Chakdara Additional District and Sessions Judge Haq Nawaz Khan was tasked to probe the incident. They said that Peshawar High Court issued a notification in that regard and tasked the judge to probe the incident.

In a separate circular, the additional district and sessions judge has asked the people to submit their verbal, written and videos evidence (if any) regarding the Dargai incident in the court of civil judge Dargai on July, 15, 17 and 18. A youth had been killed while 14 others including government officials were injured in the incident.

WALK: An awareness walk against drug abuse was held jointly by army, district administration and civil society in Lal Qila Maidan on Thursday.

The army personnel, civil officers, students of different schools and local people took part in the walk. Addressing a gathering on conclusion of the walk, Lt Col Umar Rashid, the operational commander of Maidan Battalion, said that drug abuse needed complete eradication.

Assistant Commissioner Jamalud Din, tehsil nazim Bakhtiar Khan and district councillor Abdullah Shah also spoke on the occasion. Mr Rashid said that the number of drug addicts had reached over 7 million in the country.

He urged civil Society, journalists and ulema to play their role to inform youth about the harms of drugs. He said that army would cooperate with civil administration to eradicate drug abuse.

GUJJAR QAUMI MOVEMENT: Gujjar Qaumi Movement (GQM) chief Haji Zareen Khan has said that no one should force Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to resign as he was an elected public representative.

Talking to local journalists at his residence, he said that PTI chief Imran Khan was appealing corrupt politicians in other parties to join his party. `I wonder how these rolling stones will bring change in the country, he said. Correspondent
