KOHAT: A drug addict ended his life after shooting dead his mother, a sister, and a brother in Mishti Mela area of Orakzal district on Wednesday.

DSP Mehboob Alam told Dawn on phone that Noor Said Orakzai, an ice drug addict, had a fight with his mother, 51.

He said the addict pulled out a gun and opened fire on his sister, a brother, and mother, killing them on the spot. Later, he shot himself dead.He said the police shifted the bodies to hospital for postmortem.

He said a case had been registered against the suspected killer.

Meanwhile, during a crackdown, the Ustarzai police arrested a notorious drug peddler and a proclaimed offender from Mitha Khan area on Wednesday.

The police arrested drug peddler, Taj Mohammad alias Taju from his hideout with four 1(ilogrammes of hashish.

Similarly, the police arrested Ameer Hussain, a resident of Orakzia district, who had committed a robbery in Karak in 2013.
