AC coach service between Wah-Pindi launched

TAXILA: The local administration on Thursday launched air conditioned (AC) coach service between Wah and Rawalpindi and in the first phase as many as 14 coaches will ply on the route.

The coach service was formally inaugurated by former PML-N MPA Umer Farooq along with assistant commissioner Shahid Imran. The service will ply from Barrier No 3 via Taxila on GT road to Rawalpindi railway station. The coach has been given route number B-8.

Speaking on the occasion, the PML-N leader Umer Farooq said the service was beinglaunched on the special directives of Federal Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan to provide inexpensive, quality travel facilities to the citizens of Taxila,Wah and adjoining areas.

He said after inaugurating coach service between Kallar Syyedan, the minister had pledged to launch Taxila-Pindi coach service.

Assistant commissioner, Shahid Imran while speaking on this occasion said a private company, which was already running a coach service between Taxila and Rawalpindi, will operate the service.

He said an agreement has been signed with the company which would run 14 mini air-conditioned coaches, accommodating up to 30 passengers each on this route during the project`s first phase. He said that stop to stop fare would be Rs20 while fare from Wah to Rawalpindi would be Rs58.Correspondent
