Immediate filling of school vacancies demanded

TIMERGARA: Villagers on Thursday complained about shortage of teachers at the Government Girls` Primary School Gola and demanded the immediate filling of vacancies.

Sahibzada, Zor Talab Khan and Noor Khan, members of Parent-Teacher Council,Gola, told re p o r t e r s here that the Gola girls school had one teacher since 2011 since the transfer of other, whose replacement had yet to be given. They said other posts of teachers hadlong been lying vacant. The PTC members said students had to stay home when the teacher went on leave. They said shortage of teachers was adversely affecting the studies of students enrolled at the school.

The PTC members said they repeatedly contacted the relevant authorities for the filling of vacancies, but to no avail.

They demanded of the Lower Dir deputy commissioner and education department to step in to ensure corrective measures.

HAJJ TRAINING: The Baghbaan Pakistan, a non-governmental organisation, on Thursday asked intending pilgrims to attend a Hajj training workshop arranged at a private college in Balambat on Sunday. NGO chairman Shafiullah Khan said noted Islamic scholar Maulana Suhail of Medina University would conduct the training programme.

He said his organisation had been organising such workshops in the district for five years. Correspondent
