LAHORE: Proceedings of the Punjab Assembly session on Friday could not last more than a few minutes because of lack of quorum in the house.
The assembly session began after a delay of one hour at 10am when only three lawmakers were in attendance. The chair was held by Nawabzadar Waseem Baradzoi.
As written queries about the fisheries department were taken up in the Question Hour, PML-N`s Tahir Khalil Sindhu pointed out that the secretary of the department was sitting in the of ficial gallery in violation of the ruling repeatedly given by the speaker that high-ups of relevant department must be present whenever it would come under discussion in the house.
He also pointed out that the house lacked the attendance of the required minimum number of the members.
The chair called for a count and ordered ringing bells for five minutes and then for another 15 minutes when at least 94 members could not be assembled in the house.
Nawaz Baradzoi then postponed the proceedings for Monday af ternoon.
Earlier, Mr Sindhu raised the issue of arson attack on a Rahim Yar Khan Hindu temple a couple of days ago.
Demanding a strict action against the miscreants, he said the Hindu community always stood by the country.
