Cabinet body clears appointments to four SOE boards

ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on StateOwned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) on Wednesday approved appointments to the boards of four stateowned enterprises (SOEs) and endorsed the renaming of a scientific entity, branding the decisions part of an ongoing reform effort.
Chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the meeting endorsed Aasim Aziz Siddiqi as chairman of TCP`s board and Ayesha Aziz as an independent director.
It also approved the appointment of Shoaib Mir Memon as chairman of the board of Pakistan Reinsurance Company Ltd (PRCL).
The meeting further approved the appointment of three ex-officio members to the Board of Directors of Postal Life Insurance Company Ltd, as proposed by the Ministry of Communications.
The committee approved the Ministry of Industries and Production`s proposal to reconstitute the board of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). A panel of six private sector members was cleared for appointment as independent directors: Saif Ali Rastgar (Punjab), Mashood Khan (Sindh), Osman Saifullah Khan (KP), Israr Khan Kakar (Balochistan), Aasia Saail Khan (women`s representation), and Dr Syed Zahoor Hassan (development sector).-Khaleeg Kiani
