Lawyers injured in `clash` with doctors

KASUR: Three lawyers were injured when doctors and paramedical staff of a trust hospital allegedly roughed them up following an argument.

Brothers Waqas Abid and Muhammad Awais along with fellow lawyers had taken their father to a trust hospital on Raiwind Road in a serious condition. The doctor on duty allegedly refused to examine the patient that led to a heated exchange.

Later, the lawyers claimed doctors and paramedical staff took them hostage and beat them up.

Resultantly, Abid, Awais, Abu Sufian and Musawar Khan allegedly suffered injuries and were rushed to the DHQ Hospital.

Saddar Station House Officer Malik Tariq reached the spot and tried to handle the situation.

Police are looking into the mat ter.

SELF IMMOLATION: A woman allegedly immolated herself here on Wednesday in Road Kot locality.

Police claimed that Bushra, 40, sprinkled petrol on herself and set herself ablaze. She was rushed to the DHQ Hospital, but was referred to Lahore`s Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition but died on the way.

Police sent the body to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and werelooking into the matter.

Bushra`s in-laws claimed she was mentally challenged.

ENCOUNTER: A suspected robber was gunned down in an `encounter` with police on Wednesday near Naroki Majha village in the Pattoki police precincts. Three of his accomplices managed to escape.

Police claimed the suspect was killed by his accomplices by mistake during an exchange of fire. They said Pattoki police received information that four suspects on two motorcycles had snatched a bike from a passerby near Wah Adhan village and were on their way to Pattoki.

Police set up a picket near Narki Majha village where they signalled the four suspects to stop.

Seeing policemen, the suspects opened Ere and sped away. Police chased the suspects who took refuge in nearby fields and from there fired at the police team that was retaliated.

Later, police recovered an injured suspect who was rushed to Pattoki THQ Hospital, but died on the way.

The police claimed the suspect, identified as Shahid, was wanted in over 18 cases of heinous crimes. They also claimed to have recovered the snatched motorcycle and booty from the suspect, and registered a murder case against his accomplices.
