VEHARI: A man allegedly poisoned his wife over `infertility` on Wednesday at Sargana town in Mitro police precincts, some 30-km from here.

Labourer Tariq (35) had married Haleema (30) about four years ago and the couple was without issue.

And Haleema refused to allow Tariq to contract second marriage.

On Wednesday, the suspect alleg-edly tortured his wife and administered poison to her. The woman expired on way to Malisi THQ Hospital. Inspector Ansar told Dawn that the body was shif ted for autopsy.

Police are yet to register a case.

No arrest was made.

ROBBERY MURDER: Two suspects shot dead a salesman on Tuesdaynight onofferingresistance at Bashir town in Model town police limits, Burewala, some 45km from here.

Taj Din (45), salesman at a localbakery, was on his way home by a motorbil(e. Near Bashir town, two suspects stopped him and shot at and injured him on resistance. He succumbed to his injuries at Burewala THQ hospital.

Model town police have registered a case with no arrest.

According to head constable Tanveer, the robbers made off with Rs12,000 from the salesman.

The body was handed over to family after autopsy at Burewala THQ hospital.
