DADU: Jamshoro police claimed to have killed two dacoits, Mukhtiar Chandio and Safdar Jatoi, and arrested their two accomplices who were wounded in an encounter that took place in the Gulshan-i-Shahbaz area close to the Karachi-Jamshoro toll plaza on Tuesday evening.

Hyderabad DIG Khadim Hussain Rind and Jamshoro SSP retired Captain Tariq Welayet held a joint press conference at the latter’s office to share details of the encounter with the media.

They said that a police team blocked the road at Gulshan-i-Shahbaz after receiving information about a couple of snatched cars being shifted from one place to the other.

They said that as soon as the cars were stopped, their occupants opened fire at the police party. In the ensuing encounter, Mukhtiar Chandio and Safdar Jatoi were killed and their companions, Mujahid Jamal aka Commando and Khan Sabzoi were wounded, they added.

The bodies were taken to the Kotri police station and the wounded suspects to the Kotri Taluka Hospital for treatment under custody, they said, and claimed that four pistols and the cars were seized from the suspects.
