SAHIWAL: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has uncovered an illegal consumer gas connection network in Al-Munawar Garden, private society, near village 82/6-R in Sahiwal.

SNGPL Regional Manager Bashir Ahmed reported that approximately 20 houses had been illegally connected to the main gas supply line since 2017.

The department has filed applications for the registration of criminal cases against these 20 consumers under section 462 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The estimated loss incurred stands at Rs10 million, and steps are being taken to recover these losses. He said a departmental inquiry is currently underway toidentify any wrongdoers within the department itself. This inquiry is expected to be completed within 72 hours.

The strike call is against changes to the rules of leave encashment, gratuity and pension by the caretaker government.
