Hospital gets emergency, gynaecology service

KARAK, Nov 6: District Development Advisory Committee chairman, MPA Gul Sahib Khan Khattak, on Wednesday opened an emergency and gynecology service in the Ghundi Mir Khan Khel rural health centre here.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the lawmaker claimed that ambulance and laboratory facility would also be provided to the health centre to ensure round the clock health services to the masses particularly women.

He claimed that he was well aware about the shortage of doctors in the hospitals of the district and added that 35 more doctors would be trans-ferred to Karak in next few days to meet the shortage.

He said the provincial government had released Rs55 million for provision of free medicines to hospitals in the district. The lawmaker said Rs25 million would be spent on widening of Sabirabad bazaar.

Mr Gul said Mateena AyakhelMakh Banda road would be completed with Rs4 million. He claimed that Rs4.5 million would be spent on the construction of two kilometer blacktopping of road from Shakardara to Khanan Neeka.

He promised that he would not waste the oil and gas royalty funds onpetty pro ject s and that people welfare projects would be given priority.

The DDAC chairman said drinking water would be supplied to Karak city from Lawagher dam with Rs100 million to resolve acute water shortage.

He said government schools would be provided furniture.

SCHOOL`S UPGRADATION DEMANDED: The elders of Khurram and adjacent areas have demanded of the government to upgrade the lone girls` high school of the area to higher secondary level as additional rooms to the school had already been built the purpose.

Social activists Furqan Khattak andShahzad and former councillor Rafiullah Khattak made the demand while speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday.

They said there was no higher secondary school in the area and female students had no choice but to discontinue education after matriculation.

The speakers also complained about the pathetic attitude of the local elected representatives as the entire tehsil had only one higher secondary school at Terri.

The participants threatened that if the government didn`t pay heed to their demand then they would launch protest.
