Highway code

2015-11-07
WHAT is the sense in keeping a copy of Pakistan Highway Code in a vehicle? Obviously one can`t read it while driving.

Instead the local police while checking must ask questions out of code to make sure thatthe driverhas read and understood the required basic information of rules and signs. No logic in carrying it and not knowing what`s inside.

Section 3(2) of Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, says: ` No person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he has in his possession his own copy of the most recent version of the Pakistan Highway Code published by the federal government.

I would suggest the above section to be as follows: `No person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he is fullyaware of basic information of rules and signs in the most recent version of the Pakistan Highway Code published by the federal government.

In this way people who acquire licences without a test and careless drivers won`t be able to answer basic questions during checking.

The value of a book is in its information and not in its possession.
