Two get life term for killing man

OKARA:Renala Khurd additional session judge (ASJ) handed down life imprisonment to two accused, along with Rs500,000 fine, for killing a farmer and injuring six others over a land dispute at 2/A GD village in 2021.
The Chuchak police had registered a case under sections 302, 324,148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), along with section 7 of The Anti Terrorist Act (ATA) 1997, against the two accused and their 10 accomplices, submitting the challan in the court.
After completion of trial proceedings, ASJ Shabraiz Akhtar Raja announced the verdict, handing down life imprisonment to Muhammad Abbas and Babar, whohad opened indiscriminate fire on their seven rivals.
One of the injured men, Yaqoob Masih, died on the spot, while six others were injured in the firing.
After the verdict was announced, the police arrested both convicts who were present in the court and shifted them to Okara district jail.
The court acquitted the 10 other accused, giving them benefit of doubt.
Meanwhile, Dipalpur ASJ handed down nineyear imprisonment and Rs80,000 fine to a man in a drug case.
As per, prosecution, Hujra Shah Mugeem police had recovered 2,200 gram charas from the convict, Muhammad Khalid in March 2024 and registered a case under section 9-(1)3 C of the Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997.
