TAXILA, Dec 6: A reckless truck driver smashed two police barricades and damaged six vehicles, including one belonging to the city police, after refusing to pay the toll tax on TaxilaHattar Road on Thursday.

According to the police and eyewitnesses, Sajjad Satti, driving a truck with the registration number of Z-7845, refused to pay the toll tax at the Ahatta checkpost and sped away after opening fire into the air.

As the information was passed on to the nearby police picket, a barricade was drawn there. However, the driver broke it and moved on. Later, he also smashed another barri-er in front of the city police station near HMC.

When the in-charge of the city police station, sub-inspector Tariq Majeed, chased the truck and tried to stop it at an overhead bridge, the truck hit his car. However, after about 10 kilometres` chase, the truck driver was overpowered by the police. People thrashed the reckless driver as during the road rage he had hit and damaged six vehicles, five belonging to the public.

During search of the truck, the police found nothing suspicious. However, a case was registered against him. Correspondent
