Family protests police failure to recover girl one year on

BAHAWALPUR: A family protested at DC Chowk on Friday against police`s failure to recover a girl who was kidnapped one year ago from Kachi Abadi of Tibba BadarSherinthejurisdictionofthe Baghdadul Jadid police.
They demanded that the police find the wherabouts of the girl. Protesters also carried placards inscribed with their demands. They said Fatima (18) was allegedly kidnapped from her house about one year ago and despite the registration of a case by the area police, she had not so far been rescued from her captors.
A spokesperson for the districtpolice confirmed to Dawn the registration of a kidnap case on Feb 12, 2019, by her Muhammad Asghar, who called himself the husband of the girl.
Later, Fatima`s father Muhammad Ramzan moved the Bahawalpur Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) that his daughter Fatima was kidnapped by Asghar. The police arrested Asghar but the whereabouts of Fatima were still not known.
District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf took notice of the non-recovery of the woman and ordered the city assistant superintendent of police and the Cantonment police station house officer to recover the girl.
KIDNEY UNIT: Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry says the assistance of the private sector will besought for raising the number of dialysis machines at the kidney unit of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
During the inspection of the unit, the commissioner said that he planned to ask philanthropists for financial assistance to donate generously for the purpose. According to an official handout, the commissioner said that more measures would be taken to improve health facilities at the BV H.
DENGUE: Two more persons of Karachi were tested dengue virus positive and admitted to isolation ward of the BVH here. With the admission of two dengue virus patients, the number under-treatment patients rose to 11.
