LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Tuesday formed separate teams to trace and arrest the criminals who had fired on the policemen, leaving two of them dead in Manga Mandi.

He was talking to the media after attending funeral prayers of ASI Asim Ali at the district police lines, Qila Gujjar Singh.

Many other senior police officers including addidonal IG police (Investgation) Punjab Ghulam Rasool Zahid, Lahore DIG (Operatons) Afzal Ahmad Kausar, DIG (Investigaton) Athar Esmael, DIG (Security) Mehboob Rashid, CTO Dr Asad Ejaz attended the funeral besides families of the deceased policemen.

A contingent presented guard of honour to the martyred police officials. Declaring the police officials martyrs [officially], Mr Dogar said the number of the Lahore police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty has reached 332.

He said the first information report of the incident has been lodged against the unknown criminals and police teams were directed to launch investigations for prompt arrest of the killers.

He met the families of the deceased police officials and expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives.Later, the bodies were sent for burial to their native areas with police protocol. Staff Reporter
