BAHAWALPUR: Five people suffered critical injuries after a fire erupted in a local restaurant due to a gas leak near Welcome Chowk here on Tuesday.
According to Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer (DEO) Baqir Hussain, after receipt of an emergency call, two motorbikes, three ambulances, a fire and a rescue vehicles were rushed to the spot.
The DEO said there were cylinders in the restaurant and the fire broke out due to gas leakage. The fire caused injuries to five people, including a passerby, and damaged furniture, window panes and doors of the restaurant.
Theinjuredwereshifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH). Two of the injured were discharged after first aid. The blast was intense and its sound washeardin far-off areas.
SUICIDE: An unidentified girl suddenly appeared in front of a train and alleg-edly committed suicide near Lodhran railway station on Monday night.
Lodhran police spokesman Imran Umar told Dawn that whereabouts of the girl are still unknown and a team was investigating the matter.
According to media coordinator Muhammad Safdar, no one from the nearby localities claimed her body which was shifted to the Lodhran DHQ hospital.
DROWNS: Motorcyclist Resham (38) drowned in Abbasia Canal near Uch Sharif on Tuesday while locals rescued his minor daughter Areeba (8).
According to Abid Rahim of Rescue 1122 Ahmedpour East, Resham was taking her daughter to the school and passing through [2.5-foot wide] canal bridge which didn`t a railing. Owing to poor visibility due to fog, the motorcycle fell into the canal.
Locals standing rescued his daughter while Resham drowned. The body is yet to be recovered.
