GUJRAT: Wazirabad police claim to have trace d and arrested the suspects involved in a case of 19-year-old youth who was slaughtered after being kidnapped as first cousins turned out to be the assassins over jealousy of his TikTok videos and internal f amily disputes.
The case has been resolved by the police within 10 days of the incident.
DSP Wazirabad circle Malik Amir told Dawn thatone Rana Aslam of Rasulnagar had lodged a complaint with Alipur Chatha police on Nov 26 saying that his son Rizwan had gone to drop his cousin to a nearby village Rakh Singhpura on Nov 25 and did not return home upon which the police had lodged a kidnap case against unidentified suspects.
On Nov 27, a passer-by spotted a mutilated body lying near Rasulnagar spur along the Chenab as police reached the spot and shifted it to hospital for autopsy. An investigation into the case has been launched by an inspector of the respective police station.
The DSP said a team of Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and Crime Investigation Agency police had also collectedevidences from the crime scene whereas footages of close circuit cameras and the telephone data was also examined.
He said the police had detained two cousins [of deceased] Ali Hamza and Dilawar, sons of Liaquat, as Rizwan had gone to drop Dilawar and did not return.
However on being investigated both the suspects had confessed to killing Rizwan as Dilawar stayed for a night at the house of the deceased a day earlier and then took him to his father`s outhouse in Rakh Singhpur where Ali Hamza was already present and they slaughtered Rizwan and threw his body in a deserted place the same night.
The next day the suspects again went to the spot and burnt the body toeliminate finger prints in a bid to hide their crime.
The DSP said the suspects told the police that Rizwan had allegedly misbehaved with their father and he had also quarrelled with suspect Ali Hamza while playing the PubG game whereas the suspects harboured jealousy over Rizwan`s `fame` for his TikTok videos.
It is learnt the police also interrogated a sister of the suspects and she said that the deceased used to send her text messages but, on the other hand, the suspects did not admit the factor of messages to their sister as one of the reasons for killing the youth.
Police said they had also recovered the knife used in the murder of the youth.
