2022-12-07
LAHORE: The PPP blames the current conditionof affairsinthenation on the 1985 non-party general election.

Rana Farooq Saeed, the acting president of the Punjab PPP, said at a press conference on Tuesday that the politicians who were produced as a result of the 1985 non-party elections were to blame for the destruction of the country.

During the 1985 elections, politicians such as former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif, Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chaudhry Shujat, as well as former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, Javed Hashmi, Sheikh Rashid, Chaudhry Nisar, Khwaja Asif`s father Khwaja Safdar, Syed Fakhar Imam and Syeda Abida Hussain emerged to the national political scene.According to Mr Saeed, the 2018 election rocked the nation`s foundations because the establishment rigged the results to f avour ImranKhan.

Flanked by Tasneem Qureshi, Samina Ghurki and Aslam Gill, he said had Imran Khan been a politician, he would have neither sat outside the assemblies nor talked about dissolving the elected houses.

He said whenever the polls were held in Punjab, the PPP would contest it from its own platform.

He mocked Chief Minister Parvez Elahi for changing his mind about dissolving the Punjab Assembly, saying the chief minister had been talking about doing it quickly and now he was delaying it and planned to postpone the action until March. Staff Reporter
