Judge finds teachers, students absent at skills training centre

LARKANA: Ratodero senior civil judge found teachers and students absent and infrastructure in a shambles at the girls` vocational training centre and government technical training school in Naudero during a surprise visit to the institutions on Thursday.
When Judge Mohammad Ali Rukk accompanied by police walked into the school`s premises he found only a junior instructor and lab attendant while the principal and eight staff members were absent.
The judge asked for muster roll and was told that it was with the principal. The computer laboratory, vocational training laboratory, auditorium, classrooms and worl(shop were in a dilapidated condition, dust had settled on computers and the workshop`s space was used to park the principal`s car.
He admonished the staf f when he found that wheat, onion and grass for cattle were cultivated in the school`s grounds.
Instead of imparting education the school was being used as a farm, he said.
Asked why none of the 54 enrolled students was present in the school the staff said they were on leave for `exam preparation`
