KARACHI: Rank outsider colt Flatterer coasted to a length and-a-half victory over Queen of Spades to annex the Kashmir Day Cup on a day of upsets in the winter Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Flatterer kicked up speed in home stretch to post a surprise win.
Favourite Torrent had to be content with third place while Gift of Gold completed the frame.
Rider M. Manzoor, who ended the day with a brace, presented Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara and trainer Mohyuddin with a winner.
Manzoor added another feather to his cap by guiding another outsider Azeem Choice to three-quarter-of-alength victory over favourite Big Faith to clinch the feature event.
At the outset, punters suffered heavily as two more favourites bit the dust in the first and third race.
Experience got the better of Jhoom Sayeen by three lengths to win the opener while Starka galloped to two lengths and-a-quarter victory over Soldier queen to land the third race as favourite Recovery failed to finish on the board.
Public fancy Well Wisher obliged all and sundry edging Mehbooba by Nose to win the second race.
