FAKE DOCTORS: In Pakistan, quacks, faith-healers and a variety of fake doctors function rather freely. The incompetence of health regulatory bodies has allowed them to exploit the poor. Some qualified but unscrupulous doctors help these impersonators with fake certifications so they may share the profits. Many underprivileged people who live in villages cannot access hospitals, and therefore prefer to visit `clinics` closer to their homes that are run by the quacks. The relevant authorities should focus on eliminating the menace of quackery from society.

Shanza Farrukh Karachi FREE SEEDS: While farmers in many cities across the country have received by the government seeds to grow seasonal vegetables and fruits, the wait for those in Turbat seems to be never-ending. With the better part of the season already spent waiting, they are now buying seeds on their own.

The government should provide them seeds for free so that they may remain competitive in the open market.

Tayab jummah Turbat ROADSIDE VENDORS: Roadside vendors have started to encroach pavements and service lanes in Clifton, Civil Lines, Lilly Bridge, Cantt Station and other areas of the city in connivance with the officials whose job it is to ensure that there are no encroachments.

Many cars stop on the main roads to purchase goods from these vendors, ignoring the fact that they cause traffic jams and even accidents. The department concerned should act promptly.

Mumraiz Khan Karachi FALLING STANDARD: An academy in Quetta has been preparing students for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for long. After it opened branches in other cities of Balochistan, it has stopped conducting live sessions, and has been making do with old, recorded lectures. The decline in standards is putting futures at risk.
