LAHORE: Governor Balighur Rehman has said that there is a dire need for a charter of economy among the political parties so that the continuity of policies is not disrupted by the change in governments.

`Unless there is political stability, there will be no economic stability,` the governor said at the twoday `Pakistan Chemical Expo 2023` at the Expo Centre here on Tuesday.

`Currently, the country is suffering from economic and social problems.

There needs to be a consensus among the political parties on signing a charter of economy. The governments come and go but economic policies shouldcontinue without any hindrance,` he said.

He said considering the development opportunities in the chemical sector and the current economic situation of the country, it was necessary to take immediate steps to create a conducive business environment for the chemical industry.

He said it was heartening to see that Pakistan`s chemical industry not only followed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the improvement of the environment, but was committed to them with a view to understanding its corporate social responsibility. Staff Reporter
