GUJRAT: Dinga police have booked at least 26 people, including a local PML-Q leader Ijaz Ranian, in an attempted murder case on Tuesday.
Complainant Afzaal Ahmed stated in the FIR that at least 11 nominated and 15 unidentified suspects arrived outside his outhouse at Subhan village in six vehicles.
He said the suspects opened fire at his brother Mohsin, who was at the doorstep ofthe outhouse, leaving him injured with multiple bullet wounds.
He said the suspects had previously attacked his house and now his outhouse was attacked, allegedly over political rivalry.
The suspects fled the scene soon after the incident, while Mohsin was shifted to the hospital, where his condition was now said to be out of danger. On the complaint, the police registered a case against at least 11 nominated suspects, including Ijaz Ahmed and his brother AkhlagAhmed of Ranian, and 15 unidentified persons, under sections 324, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Police said they had started investigation, however, no arrest could be made so far.
On the other hand, Ijaz Ranian termed the case baseless and fabricated, saying he would resist such tactics as his rivals had also lodged false cases against him previously, which he had faced and got acquitted.
