Mansehra resident remanded in custody on assault charge

MANSEHRA: A local court on Tuesday granted the police two-day physical remand of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a minor boy.
The suspect was arrested by the police after civil society organisations took to the streets against the sex crime against the 12-year-old worker of a BBQ shop.
He was booked under Section 377 of the Pakistan Penal Code as well as the Child Protection Act.
SHO of the city police station Aurangzeb Khan told reporters here that the man allegedly subjected the boy to the sexual assault on Friday morning after `trapping` him in a room.
He said the boy`s medical examination confirme d the offence.
Earlier, traders, activists of Youth Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tehreek-i-Ingalab Soba Hazara and Jamaat-iIslami`s Youth Wing demonstrated against the assault and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprit for punishment.
Shabbir Hussain Shah ofthe Youth Assembly said crimes against children were simply unacceptable to the society and therefore, people stepped out to protest the incident of child abuse.
Senior vice-president of the central traders body Sheikh Kamran Iqbal demanded exemplary punishment for all those sexually assaulting children.
Jamaat-i-1slami leaders Sheikh Nadeem Shahzad and Umar Imtiaz announced free legal assistance for the assault victim.
PRICE CONTROL: The central trader body on Tuesday demanded of the government to reactivate price review and control committees in Hazara division to check profiteering.
Senior vice-president of the trader body Sheikh Kamran Iqbal told reporters that the inflation rate had hit an all-time high to the misery of people, who struggled to make ends meet.
He said the issue could be addressed by reactivating price review and control committees.
Mr Iqbal said PRCCs headed by the respective deputy commissioners in all districts and having representation of traders, consumers and departments checked and fixed prices of essential committees every month.
