LAHORE: Unidentified thieves allegedly took away gold ornaments worth around Rs30 million from a house in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Friday.

The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Defence (A) police station when the family had gone to attend funeral prayers of a close relative.

The house owner, Anwarul Haq, a resident of DHA Phase IH, told the police that his father-in-law died and all the family members went to attend his last rites after locking the house.

He said that on returning home, they found that all thegoldjewellery,including bangles, rings, bracelets, etc, had been taken away from a cupboard in the main bedroom.

According to Haq, the price of the stolen gold ornaments totals up to Rs30m.

On being informed of the theft, the police reached the scene and started investigation. Staff Reporter
