MUZAFFARGARH: A man`s heartless act of hanging his child from a tree was thwarted as the child`s screams attracted locals who rescued him in Basti Makwal in the Shahjamal police area.

The police responded a call and saved the fouryear-old boy`s life on Thursday night.

Four-ye arold Muhammad Wasay`s neck bore marks of the rope used in the attempt.

The father, Jameel, took him to an orchard, tied a rope around his neck and hanged him. As the childcried out, locals informed the police, who acted immediately and arrested the suspec, a police spokesperson said.

The police also recoveredtheropeusedin the crime. A case of attempted murder was registered against the suspect on the complaint of the police. The rescued child clung to the SHO, while a large number of citizens gathered at the police station to pay tribute to the police team.

According to the first information report, the child was hanged in a garden near his house. His cries alerted locals, ultimately saving his life.
