KASUR: Illahabad police on Monday booked 60 villagers, including a cleric, for criticising Women Protection Bill.

According to FIR registered under section 16 MPO, 6 Punjab Loudspeaker Ordinance 2015 and 341 of PPC, 60 people led by Qari Jamil Ahmed took out a procession and blocked Illahabad Chowk on Deepalpur Road.

The speakers allegedly made anti-state speeches and incited people to riots.

On the complaint of SI Muhammad Bashir, police lodged a case against 60 people, including six nominated.

The protesters were raising their voice under the flag of Quran and Sunnah Movement, and opposing the newly enacted women protection law.-Correspondent
