PU rusticates five students, suspends two

LAHORE: The Punjab University administration on Friday rusticated five students for one academic year and suspended two others for 14 days over disciplinary violations, riots and quarrels.

The PU disciplinary committee rusticated Rehan Ali Waheed, Muhammad Ali, Jawad Zahoor, Salman Arshad and Mubashir Akhtar for one academic year. Danish Arshad and Anas Ramzan were suspended for 14 days and they were also asked to submit their affi-davits to the dean concerned. They will also undergo a probation period of six months upon their reinstatement.

The PU spokesperson said that on the instructions of Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, indiscriminate action would continue against students guilty of disciplinary violations.

REKIH FOUNDATION: The University of Home Economics has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness(California, USA) to promote mental and emotional wellbeing of people.

Under the MoU, UHE willestablisha`Happiness Centre and Mind Lab` within its Department of Psychology, to integrate Happiness Science into academia. The MoU was officially signed by UHE Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zaibun Nisa Hussain and Dr Satinder Singh Rekhi, the founder of the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness.

After signing the MoU, the VC said this initiative aims to foster research and education in Happiness Science, provide a platform for international conferences and seminars, and promote awareness of mental well-being.

The partnership aligns with UHE`s commitment to holistic development and its contribution to the global discourse on emotional wellness, she added. Staff Reporter
