BAHAWALPUR: Commissioner has ordered that the dental college of the Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (QAMC) and a bone marrow transplant facility, lying dysfunctional in the city, should be made operational by overcoming staff shortage, while a thalassemia centre be upgraded with immediate effect.
Commissioner Ms Musarrat Jabeen issued the orders on Friday while presiding over a meeting at Quaid-eAzam Medical College (QAMC) here.
The dental college on the campus and the thalassemia centre, a part of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), have been dysfunctional due to staff shortage, causing problems for the patients.
The commissioner also directed the officials concerned to complete the installation of necessary machinery in the Bahawal Victoria Hospital`s operation theatres.
During the meeting, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Principal Prof Dr Sufia Farrukh and Bahawal Victoria Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Aamir Mahmood Bokhari briefed the commissioner about their institutions.
ARRESTED: Seven persons were arrested for alleged violations of Ihteram-i-Ramazan Ordinance in Lodhran and Dunyapur on Friday.
Lodhran Deputy Commissioner Dr Lubna Nazir said two retailers were also arrested for illegal deduction in the amount being paid to the deserving women under the Ramazan Nigheban Package of the government. She said the shops of the two suspects were also sealed.
She said two other suspects were arrested for violating the Price Control Act in Lodhran.
