KARACHI: A month-long campaign titled `Healthy Sindh` was launched on Tuesday at a programme organised at the Jinnah Sindh Medical University.

Health Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar declared the start of the campaign at the programme where he said that the provincial government was committed to improving the public healthcare sector.

Secretary of health Iftikhar Ahmed Shallwani said the campaign consisted of three parts. It would start with the first phase on Wednesday when a two-day healthand nutrition festival would start in Tharparkar.

The second phase would feature an anti-polio campaign to be launched across the province.

Speakers said all districts of Sindh particularly those, which had produced polio cases this year, would be given special attention.

In the third phase, medical camps would be set up in every district to improve routine immunisation.

The officials admitted the routine immunization had historically been poor in Sindh, which warranted more consideration in the policy to save children from preventable diseases.
