DERA GHAZI KHAN: Teachers and managerial staff of the Ghazi University here on Tuesday staged a demonstration demanding appointment of a permanent vice chancellor of the varsity and issuance of their salaries.
Scores of professors, lecturers and management staff of the varsity gathered on the campus and raised slogans demanding appointment of a full-time vice chancellor. They also demanded release of their salaries.
Presently the divisional commissioner has the additional charge of vice chancellor while the university has been facing financial crises since its inception.
The varsity is housed in the building of a post-graduate college and has no proper campus and hostels for male and femalestudents.
PROTEST: Scores of people staged a demonstration demanding recovery of a man`s body who they alleged was murdered by his in-laws some nine months ago.
A participant in the protest demo held in front of the office of regional police officer (RPO), Rasheed, told the media that his relative Tariq was killed by his in-laws some nine month back in the precincts of Jhok Uttra police station. He said the police neither arrested the killers nor recovered body of the deceased.
RPO Rehmatullah Niazi has sought a report about the case from district police officer.
The protesters dispersed after being assured by police that their grievance would be redressed soon.
