LAHORE: Explaining the salient features of the Pakistan Muslim League Constitution at the Gymkhana Club after the inauguration of its promulgation by President Ayub, the Central Law Minister, Mr S.M. Zafar, said the need for a strong political party in the country could not be over-emphasised.

That party should not only work for the mental build-up of the nation, awaken political consciousness among the masses and promote democracy in the country, but should also be mature in vision, conscious of the current af fairs and able to present a constructive and comprehensive programme to solve the various problems of the country. It should serve the common man selflessly.

He said the Muslim League was the only such organisation which could deliver the goods. Its new constitution was framed to meet all these requirements, he added.

About the aims and objectives of the Pakistan Muslim League Organisation, Mr Zafar said its foremost aim, termed by him as its `religion` was Pakistan`s solidarity, for which it would not hesitate to offer any sacrifice. He considered Pakistan`s safety and solidarity as the other name of the Pakistan Muslim League.

Faqir Abdul Mannan, President of the East Pakistan Muslim League, said that the new constitution of the Muslim League will be hailed throughout the country, as it would strengthen the organisation which achieved Pakistan, and is charged with achieving the ultimate goal.

He said the new constitution had given powers to the masses and ordinary workers would be able to rise to the highest ofñce of the party through the democratic method, namely elections.

Faqir Abdul Mannan said that the new constitution was also another proof of the earnestness of President Ayub to give greater and greater powers to the people in the Government.
