KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead and his three accomplices were arrested after an `encounter` in Korangi on Monday.

Korangi SSP Tariq Nawaz said the Zaman Town police were patrolling near a football ground in Sector 50-C when four suspects resorted to firing on them.

In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect, identified as Mirza Ali, was killed while his three accomplices, Faizan, Affan and Mohammed Sami, were apprehended, the officer added.

Man guns down his wife A young woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband in Orangi Town early on Monday morning.

Police said the deceased, 35-year-old Zakia, was shot and killed by Zameer Khan in Islamia Colony.

Pirabad SHO Imtiaz Mirjat said the murder appeared to be an outcome of a family dispute. He added that the suspectwas a drug addict. He was also involved in street crimes and had been arrested twothree times in the past.

Passer-by shot dead in clash A passer-by was shot dead while another person injured when two groups clashed with each other over a dispute involving children`s fighting in Gulistan-iJauhar on Monday, police said.

They added that Shahid Allah Ditta, 25, and Rashid Ismail, 30, were injured in Chishti Nagar, Block-10. They were taken to a hospital where Shahid died during treatment.

Gulistan-i-Jauhar SHO Pir Shabbir Haider said that the altercation involved neighbours from two groups, the Magsi and Gilgiti families, who fought over a dispute between children. During the fight, the two sides restored to firing as a result of which, passerby Shahid was shot dead while Ismail was wounded. -Staff Reporter
