TAXILA: A man was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in the limits of New Town area of Attock while in another incident a man was taken into custody in Wah Saddar for allegedly trying to rape a minor girl.

The rape victim while lodging a complaint with the police said she developed friendship with the man. Later, he abducted her at gunpoint and took to a house where he allegedly raped her.

In the second incident, police arrested a man for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl in Malikabad area in the limits of Wah Saddar police station.

The victim`s father reported to police that his eight-year-old daughter went to a nearby shop where the suspect allegedly forcefully took her to a deserted place and tried to rape her.

She voiced alarm, which caught the attention of some locals who rescued her.

Suspect killed Police claimed to have killed a suspect wanted in over 30 heinous crimes including murder, attempted murder, robbery and extortion in an `encounter` with on Saturday.

According to the police spokesman, the man came to his house located in Malikabad area in limits of Wah Saddar police station to celebrate Eid with his family.

When a police team raided his house, he opened fire on it, which was retaliated and he died during the cross firing .

Confirming the incident, SDPO ASP Waqas Khan said that the suspect was a member of an inter district gang known as Ranga Group. Correspondent
