SAHIWAL: The city police suspect that a former security guard and two other persons are involved the murder of Rana Ahmed Ali, the f ather of PML-N MPA Mian Naveed Ali.

Rana Ahmed`s bullet-ridden body was found from his residence on Hota Road on Saturday morning.

City SHO Hashim said police had registered a case against Atta, a resident of Sui, Balochistan, and two unidentified persons on the complaint of Rana Ahmed`s son under sections 302, 109 and 34 of PPC. Atta remained a guard of the veteran politician and he has been nominated by the MPA in the case.

Police suspect Atta had settled score because of his differences with his employer. They found empty bullets from the deceased`s bedroom and also collected CCTV footage which shows the arrival of a man by motorcycle and he made multiple calls from his mobile phone at 4am.

Police after securing the location identified the phone numbers and are working on call record data.

The FIR says Rana Ahmed went to his bedroom after having political discussion with his friends Bashir Ahmed, Rizwan Iqbal and Waqar Ahmed who came from 19/SP village and stayed in the other two bedrooms for being late.

They woke up to gunshots and rushed to Rana Ahmed`s bedroom where they saw three men including Atta, it says.

Atta fired bullets in Rana Ahmed`s head while two other men fired multiple gunshots in the chest and shoulder, says the FIR.

MPA Mian Naveed Ali told media that he had gone to Lahore to celebrate Eid with his family and his father stayed at the outhouse.

`The news of father`s death was given to him by house attendants who found Rana Ahmed dead in the bedroom at 11am,` Mian Naveed told Dawn.

A team of the Rescue 1122 collected his body and sent it for postmortem at 3pm.

Mian Naveed said his father was involved in litigation in three or four cases but the family had no clue to any simmering enmity.

Police, however, say the way the politician had been shot dead shows the killers have personal grudge. They say Atta served Rana Ahmed as guard for years but he was fired from his job because of differences.

Rana Ahmed Ali`s funeral prayer was offered at the DC complex. A number of people including political figures of almost all the parties, elders of Dewan family and district government officials attended it.

Earlier, police took four to five people into custodyforinterrogation.
