A measured response

WITH tensions mounting once again in South Asia in the wake of yet another unprovoked Indian military strike on Pakistani territory, there is no room for world powers to remain indifferent. The international community, particularly powers like the United States, China and Russia, must recognise that continued aggressionbyIndia poses agrave threat to regional peace, international law, and human rights.
The recent attack deliberately targeted civilian areas in Pakistan, which is a blatant violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter that strictly prohibits theuse of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. Far from being an isolated incident, the attack is part of a broader pattern of aggression by India one that increasingly ignores international norms.
India`s behaviour also stands in stark defiance of the Geneva Conventions that offer protection to civilians during armed conflicts. By attacking non-combatants, India has violated the International Humanitarian Law, which clearly distinguishes between military targets and civilian populations. These actions cannot be justified as defensive measures they are offensive, illegal and reckless.
In contrast, Pakistan has responded with restraint and responsibility, targeting only legitimate military objectives and avoiding civilian harm. This reflects not only professionalism, but also a deep respect for international law and the principles of humanitarian conduct. The difference in approach between the two states could not be more pronounced: where India escalates, Pakistan exercises discipline; where India provokes, Pakistan prioritises stability.
