LAKKI MARWAT: The police have arrested two suspects involved in the murder of a police official in a gun attack in the Rehmatabad area of Karak district.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Kohat Regional Police Officer Abbas Majeed Marwat said that on April 29, unidentified gunmen had targeted constable Niaz Marjan when he was on way to a local courtforhearinginto acase.

He said the martyred police official was posted to the Latambar police station as Muharrir. He said that the attackers had fled the scene after the incident.

Flanked by Karak district police officer Shahbaz Elahi and SP investigations Mohammad Ashfaq Khan, the RPO said that the police took the case as a challenge and tasked investigators with tracing the suspects.

`During the initial investigation, the police learnt that the martyred policeman had a personal enmity upon which the sphere of investigation was expanded and two suspects were captured during a raid,` he claimed.

Mr Marwat said that the arrested suspects confessed to have committed the murder on a personal enmity with the deceased cop. He said that the murder of the police official was not linked to terrorism and that enmity led to the occurrence of the incident.
