RPO suspends police officials for manhandling MNA

RAWALPINDI: Following the manhandling of member of the National Assembly (MNA) and PTI member Malik Mohammad Amir Dogar by police outside Adiala jail on Tuesday, the regional police officer ordered the suspension of two station house officers (SHOs) and an assistant subinspector (ASI) of Chakri police station.

The incident happened when the PTI leaders and supporters were present outside the Adiala jail, waiting for a meeting with the PTI founder. Amir Dogar, PTI chief whip, claimed that hewas manhandled by the police outside the jail.

After the incident, the RPO ordered the suspension of police officials responsible for the manhandling of the PTI MNA. DPO Jhelum was appointed as the inquiry officer.

Following the directives of RPO, the city police officer suspended SHO Chakri Tayyab Zaheer Baig, SHO Dhamyal SI Mohammad Saleem Qureshi and ASI Majid Hussain.

The suspended police officials were directed to immediately relinquish their charge and report to the Police Lines Headquarters.

Later, SI Tayyab Baig was posted as SHO New Town, police said.
