LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday issued a fresh notice to the incarcerated PTI founding chairman Imran Khan on a prosecution application seeking permission to conduct his polygraphic (lie detection) and photogrammetric (facial and voice analysis) tests in connection with the May 9 riots cases.

Special Prosecutor Rana Aazar appeared before the court to present arguments on the application.

The investigating officers in 12 cases of May 9 riots and DSP Investigation Javed Asif also appeared before the court.

Barrister Salman Safdar, the counsel for Imran Khan, did not appear before the court.

A report filed on behalf of Adiala Jail superintendent stated that the PTI founding chairman had not received the court notice.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gillobserved that the accused should be given a fair chance to defend himself through legal counsel.

The judge ordered that a fresh notice be issued through the jail superintendent for the accused to appear at the next hearing.

The judge also instructed that the notice be sent through the counsel for the accused.

The hearing was adjourned till Thursday (today).

In the application, the police sought permission to conduct photogrammetric and polygraphic tests of Imran inside Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, where he is currently imprisoned.

The prosecution stated that the Supreme Court allowed such tests to fulfill investigative requirements.

The tests are to be carried out in 12 cases, including those pertaining to Jinnah House and Askari Tower attacks.

Other cases include attacks on Shadman police station and party offices of the PML-N.
