Four more human traffickers held

GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency claimed on Wednesday to have arrested at least four human traffickers during the ongoing crackdown in Gujranwala and Gujrat regions.

An official of Gujrat FIA circle said raiding teams had traced and arrested two human traffickers from Gujrat district.

He said a suspect namely Abdul Razzaq of Kalak, Kharian tehsil, was arrested in case number 136/25 under sections 17/22 EO 1979 r/w 3/6 PSMA 2018.

The suspect had extorted Rs1 million from complainant Ansar Mehmood of Gujrat for sending his son Muhammad Bilal to Italy for employment.

Later on, he sent the intending emigrant to Libya but did not send him to Italy who returned to Pakistan.

Another human trafficker namely Javed Iqbal of Mohallah Hajipura,Wazirabad, was arrested in case number 936/25 under sections 17/22 EO 1979, 3/6 PSMA 2018. The suspect got Rs1,384,000 from complainant Muhammad Imran of Wazirabad for sending him to Italy for employment. Later on, the suspect sent him to Libya but failed to send him to Italy and the immigrant came back to Pakistan.

A spokesman for Gujranwala FIA circle said Muhammad Ghaffar of Mohallah Rohiwala Ladhywala Warraich, Gujranwala, was arrested in case number 329/2025 dated May 5, 2025 u/s 22(b) EO 1979.

The suspect received an amount of Rs550,000 from complainant Muhammad Tayyab of Tatlayaali, Kamoki tehsil, for sending him to Malaysia for overseas employment.

Further investigation fromthe arrested suspectsis underway. -Correspondent
