DURING the seventh round of the USPakistan Security, Strategic Stability and Non-Proliferation Working Group in Washington, Pakistan made it clear that access to peaceful nuclear technology for peaceful purposes was a socio-economic priority for the country.
Pakistan also took the stance that it would not take the initiative to reduce its nuclear assets. The stance was totally in confirmaty with the security policy of Pakistan.
Pakistan, being a responsible nuclear state, has every right to acquire nuclear technology for its growing energy needs.
The US should not create any hindrances because it has already done a nuclear deal with India. Pakistan should continue to stick to its stance by not signing the NPT.
The nuclear assets of Pakistan act as a deterrent to the much aggressive India and keeps India`s hegemonic designs in check.
