Locust control

2015-06-08
THIS refers to the letter `Locust control` (June5).The subjectoflocustcontrol brings to mind a number of questions.

How many aircraft of the Plant Protection Department are airworthy? How many spray-rated pilots are available? Does the department have enough qualified engineers to support 20 aircraft at multiple locations? Is the AOC of the aerial wing currently valid? Is the flying currency of pilots valid? How many Beavers Cessna and Fletchers are actually airworthy and spray-worthy? If the answer to the above questions is a big yes and all 20 aircraf t are airworthy, the pilots are all qualified and enough engineers are available, the department`s aerial wing deserves all praise. But if the answer is no, then it is a really big embarrassment.
