Villagers block road over six-hour power outage

TOBA TEK SINGH: Villagers blocked MultanFaisalabad road for traf fic for two hours at Sindhillianwali on Tuesday in protest against Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) for over six-hour continuous loadshedding in their villages.

They set tyres on fire and blocked the traffic which could be seen in long queues on both sides of the road.

Fesco of ficials held talks with the protesters who ended the protest when electricity supply was restored to their villages.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed one each in Chak 374-JB and Chak 251-GB on Tuesday.

In the first incident, complainant Bashir Ahmad of Chak 374-JB, in the first information report registered with Sadar police, said he was loading his tractor-trolley with muck heap along with his son Abid Ali when harsh words were exchanged between his son and Saddam and Hanif over ownership of muck heap. Both the suspects attacked Abid with knives and injured him. Abid diedwhen he was being shifted to hospital.

In the second incident, which occurred in Chak 251GB, a farmer, identified as Hanif, was attacked by his six opponents, including Usman, over a property dispute.

The victim suffered serious injuries and died when was being taken to hospital.

DROWNS: A seven-year-old boy drowned in Gogera branch canal near Gojra.

Villagers said Mudassar, son of Arshad, a resident of Chak 154-GB, was standing on the bank of the canal when he slipped into it and drowned.

Meanwhile, a farmer was electrocuted in Kamalia.

Sadar police said the deceased, Saifullah, of Chak 705GB was cutting fodder on electric cutting machine when his hand touched a live wire. He died on the spot.

TERMINATED: District Police Officer Rana Shahzad Akbar terminated from service City SHO Atif Ali for failing to trace the dacoits who had committed Rs1.65m robbery at Shorkot Bazaar branch of a private bank after injuring a guard.

Meanwhile, all the seven suspects, involved in gang rape of a girl at Chak 423-JB, have been arrested.
